El Super Weekly Ad – Chedraui is a Mexican grocery store and department store chain publicly traded which also operates stores in California named El Super. It is traded on the Mexican Stock Exchange under the symbol CHEDRAUI. Chedraui was founded in 1927 in Xalapa, Veracruz by Lazaro Chedraui and his wife Chaya. In 1971 he opened the first supermarket in Xalapa, Veracruz. In 2005 he bought 29 supermarkets from Carrefour in southern Mexico and Central. Chedraui main competition includes major grocers and supermarkets as SORIANA, Wal-Mart and Comercial Mexicana.
According to Hoover’s, is “the third largest retailer of Mexico (after Walmart and SORIANA), the giant supermarket sells groceries, clothing, and items of non-perishable in 235 stores. Operations California began in 1997, later expanded to Nevada, Arizona and Texas. shops are called El Super, and Bodega Latina operated by Grupo Chedraui’s Corporation, headquartered in Paramount, CA. It operates about 58 stores aimed primarily to Hispanics. in addition to sales retail, the group has a real estate arm.
